Background: An Educator with Experience
Recently nominated for the Stanley C. Holder Golden Apple Leadership Award, LeeAndra Khan’s work speaks for itself. Emphasizing on the whole person, she works to develop civically minded students, teachers and parents who collaborate to effect change in their communities. Before beginning her journey as an Educator, she spent 10 years as a Civil Engineer in some of Chicago’s largest fi ms (Parsons Brinckerhoff, A. Epstein & Sons, and Patrick Engineering). After designing roads, highways, gas stations and bridge inspections, she decided to take her skills and share them with the children of Chicago, receiving her teacher training under the Golden Apple Alternative Certification (G.A.T.E.) program.
